Literacy is a human right
Literacy development is one of the key factors in success as a child and later as an adult. Our goal is to get all our children reading on grade level. After coming back into the building and seeing some students in person for the first time in a year and a half, teachers are laser focused on conferencing with students regularly to understand where their reading proficiency is.
Grade level reading leads to grade level writing, the ability to comprehend and engage in complex problem solving, and ability to engage in all content areas. Students who reach grade-level reading milestones by the 3rd grade are 13X more likely to graduate from high school.
The Reading, Bi-literacy and Book Fund provide:

- Dual Language Program
- Tutors and on-site reading specialists
We are well on our way to meeting our literacy goal. Thanks to your support, last year we invested in the state of the art American Reading Curriculum and PowerUp programs. PowerUp is a literacy-focused blended learning program for struggling and non-proficient adolescent readers, that launches children to grade-level reading attainment.
